Human Performance Laboratory

The laboratory is geared for teaching and research related to Data Visualization, Product Design and Human Performance Modelling. State-of-the-art equipment are available for digital 3D scanning, 3D motion measurement, eye-gaze tracking, material and people-related testing. The facility is equipped with a variety of computer-based transducers and instruments to measure force, motion, physiological indices and environmental stressors. Some of the portable equipment are used for performing field tests in various settings. The environmental chamber provides a controlled environment for studies related to lighting and temperature. The various equipment helps understand the human psychological, physiological, and biomechanical capacities for efficient, sustained and healthful human performance in different environments.

Research studies have been performed for many multi-national companies such as Honeywell, Motorola, Symbol Technologies, Selve, and local companies such as Exxon-Mobil Corp., Kowloon-Canton Railway, MTR Corporation, Hong Kong Telecom, Iconmedia, Sprandi to name a few.

The aim of the laboratory is to design and develop products that fit people in terms of physical, physiological and cognitive needs.
